How do I load the registration key

Registration for the Palm and the desktop companion are both performed on the Palm.  Load the registration key from the Patients (List) screen by choosing the Menu Options then Registration Key.  Tap OK and you will receive confirmation that the key has been stored.

IMPORTANT:  Keep your registration key in a safe place; you may need it if you need to recover WardWatch from backup.  You may also need it for technical support and to obtaining upgrades.

Upgrade Key: If you purchased an upgrade to WardWatch you will need to have  the original key loaded before loading the upgrade key.  After loading the original key simply enter the new key the same way.  (The registration screen will show "Existing Key: ww25bt-...".  If you see ######### in the key field you are using v3.0 - please download the latest release and install it, then load the new key.  Enter the upgrade key into the Key: field and click ok.  Hotsyncing will cause the desktop companion to be registered.

I'm already using WardWatch, can I just get the desktop

If you are a licensed user of WardWatch on the Palm (versions v1.2, 1.2.5, 2.0, or 2.5) you can purchase the desktop upgrade to become a registered user of WardWatch v3.0 on the Palm and Desktop.  Users of v3.0 on the Palm only can also purchase the desktop upgrade in order to start using the desktop.

What are the different versions of WardWatch

WardWatch may be purchased as the Palm only application.  For this you will receive a key that will activate all the features for WardWatch on the Palm.  The desktop will still indicate it is unregistered.  The registration key has the form ww30...

If you purchase WardWatch for the palm and the desktop companion then the key you receive will activate both WardWatch on the Palm and on the desktop.  The key is loaded through the WardWatch on the Palm.  The key has the prefix wd30...

If you have purchased an early version of WardWatch or just the palm application and want to upgrade to the desktop.  The desktop upgrade can be purchased and you will receive a key with the prefix wd30u... note that you must load both your original key and then load your new key to activate both WardWatch on the Palm and on the desktop.

I've upgraded to a new Palm

If you upgrade to a new Palm and hotsync with your existing Palm username all your data including WardWatch should be transferred to the new Palm.  After confirming you have all your data you should do a hard reset of your old palm and give it another username.

If you upgrade to a new palm and create a new username you will need to perform the following procedure.

  1. Use the install tool to load WardWatch.prc, wwEventDB.pdb, and wwPatientDB.pdb.  You will find these in your Palm user's backup directory (eg C:\Palm\<user>\backup).
  2. Hotsyncing once to load these components onto your Palm and then load your registration key
  3. In the Hotsync Manager go to Custom and set WardWatch so that "HandHeld overwrites Desktop" for the next hotsync
  4. Hotsync - confirm your patient records can be seen by WardWatch desktop and confirm that the Hotsync manager reverted to "Synchronise Files" for WardWatch.
  5. You should remove WardWatch on the old Palm or unregister it by going to the registration screen.
